Shannon has returned to private practice after retiring from the bench, where she served for thirteen years as a Judge of the Hanover County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. During her tenure, she held the role of Chief Judge and served as both Chair and Member of the Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission.
Prior to her judicial career, Shannon served as Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Newport News and the County of Hanover, where she focused on prosecuting violent crimes and complex narcotics offenses. She was also appointed a Special Assistant United States Attorney, handling cases in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and providing legal counsel to law enforcement members of the Violent Crimes Task Force.
Shannon’s extensive experience as both a prosecutor and a judge gives her a uniquely informed perspective on family law and criminal defense matters, and a deep understanding of how to advocate effectively for the clients she serves.
